New Favorites: Bold Scarves

This weekend, we took a little field trip out to a fun park in Altoona. The plan was to take Zack’s 5-year pictures (more on that later), and have some playtime. Both goals were accomplished, along with an added bonus...

Outfit pictures.

If I’m being honest, I’ve gotta say I’m not sure I’m still loving this outfit. And I’m certainly not loving the jeggings bunching up above the boots (something I haven’t been able to nix yet, as the jeggings are too LONG for me). But the thing I am loving is the scarf.

Yes, I realize scarves are nothing new, but they’re a new venture for me. I love them – but usually on other people. Mostly, because I’ve never felt that I’ve been able to master HOW to wear them.

So, I’m trying to overcome those reservations and just go for it. I even bought another scarf today.

(Three scarves? I may be out of control…)

New Favorites: ‘Sweggings’

#1: Haverlee and Nikki, this is for you.

#2: I didn’t think to use the word “sweggings” until Haverlee (see above) said it. I’m just to old and un-hip to use such words on a regular basis.

#3: I don’t really have a 3, but thought 2 wasn’t enough. Things are usually better in threes…

Yes, it’s true. I bought into the leggings craze. And since it’s winter in Iowa I went ahead and went a little crazy and got SWEATER leggings. (a.k.a. Sweggings) I’m sorry, but I just can’t be sorry about wearing them. (but I can apologize for not being sorry?)

I have my own personal “rules” when it comes to leggings. And since you’re dying to know what they are (naturally), here you go:
  • Must be worn with a shirt that COVERS your backside. (otherwise, you may as well head outside in our t-shirt and pantyhose ‘cause baby, we can see your undies.)
I just realized that’s my only rule. Wow, I really should have thought out these lists a little better. Oh well, I stand by my rule – it’s one I strictly adhere to (and boy do I wish others would, too)

Follow that one rule, and you too can wear a cute outfit that feels like pajamas. Seriously people, is there anything better than that? I submit to you, there is not.

My fashion resolution for 2011? Prove that beauty doesn’t HAVE to be painful OR uncomfortable. (except for eyebrow waxing, which is both painful AND uncomfortable)

New Favorites: Oversized Sweater

So, I’ve been looking for ways to changes things up on the blog, and incorporate some new ideas. This will be my first real attempt at that – although I’m still working on some formatting ideas.
Sure, you probably couldn’t tell, but I’m drawn to fashion. Not HIGH fashion as much as PRACTICAL fashion. I LOVE things that are hip and in-style, but I NEED things that work with my day-to-day life – otherwise, I never get to wear them. And where’s the fun in owning clothes you never get the chance to wear? (Nwhere, that’s where. I’ve been there, done that!) So, I’ve been working to incorporate more pieces into my wardrobe that are functional, and fashionable. (and let’s just add COMFORATABLE in there, as well) I thought maybe I’d share some of my new favorite things with all of you, and see what you think – and maybe inspire you to give something new a try. So, here we go!
One of the things I picked up recently, was an oversized sweater that I’m just crazy about. (and I got it on SALE!) It’s so comfy and PERFECT for fall, and I think it looks great with a pair of skinny jeans and boots! (plus I think it could absolutely work with a pair of cute flats, too). Something that’s versatile, comfy AND cute? Couldn’t pass it up. (and did I mention it was on sale?)
Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like it’s a look that’s “put together” and I also get to feel snug and cozy at the same time. That’s a giant win-win for me.
